Ásgarður Handverkstæði

Ásgarður

Ásgarður is a non-profit organization that was established in 1993. In Ásgarður there are 30 disabled workers and 8 helpers. The work-hours are from 8 am to 4.30 pm.

Inspiration:
We are inspired by Rudolf Steiners anthroposophy, we adapt the production to the workers, and we try to have fun at work.
Our ambition is to nourish the best part in every individual and to help them build on that, and to have a production to fit every individual and every individual’s capability, but not vice versa.
To work with his or her ideas and to participate in the production from the first idea to the finished production gives them confidence, patience, willpower and pride.

Woodwork:
In our woodwork shop we produce a range of handmade wooden toys and lifestyle items, and everything else that the tree inspires us to make out of it.

Art workshop:
In our art workshop we produce a variety of items from whatever materials our nature provides for us such as stones, wool, leather, shells, horns, bones and more.

Design:
Our production is our own and is inspired by the Icelandic reality,
